Kaaze

Kaaze

How did you come up with the project “KAAZE”?

Actually Tiesto was the reason haha. When I originally signed with him he was not able to pronounce my real last name (which I was using as my Artist name at the time) and wanted me to come up with something that was easier for him to say. So that is when I brainstormed and came up with a name that was similar to my real last name. Andthatshow KAAZE was born!

How do you feel your sound has evolved since you began your career?

Well, it’s always been about the melodies for me but I do think my sound started to shape about 4 years ago. Its very hard to put a stamp on a specific sound these days but I feel that most of the time you’ll here when it’s a KAAZE song and that makes me very proud.

Who are some of your biggest influences as an artist?

I have a lot of influences but my biggest hero since I was literally 1 years old is Freddie Mercury. Every time I feel lost or uninspired I listen to some Queen music. I listen to all kinds of music but I have a weak heart for 80’s music and Rock N Roll!

Your last performances in Germany were at Bootshaus and Airbeat One in 2015. How did you experience the German crowd and fans back then?

I was playing very early I remember at Airbeat Festival. I don’t think there were more than 20 people in the crowd but I do remember how dedicated and supportive those 20 fans were to me. For me those shows are the most important ones because those shows are what makes me appreciate my most successful performance today! We all have to start somewhere.

You published a lot of music in 2018 and just released the first track of 2019 „Better Than This“ with Chad Kowal. What are your musical plans for the year 2019?

This year is definitely the most exciting year so far in my career with so much new music coming. I’m also working on some amazing collaborations this year including a huge one together with KSHMR. I also just released my brand new single “I Should Have Walked Away” on Hardwell’s Label Revealed Recordings. It’s my very first cover song of the classic hit “Died In Your Arms” by Cutting Crew. It’s a very special feeling to release a cover song. Excitingtimes!

Do you follow any ritual before playing a gig?

I have a few rituals but I focus the most on sorting out my stage clothes and my music. Once I’m done with that I like to just have a nice pre-party with my friends and family before the shows. It’s allabouthaving a good time!

If you could choose any artist to produce a track with. Who would you choose and why?

Easy, Imagine Dragons! I simply love everything they do.

Aside from being a producer and DJ what are your interests or hobbies?

Even though music takes up such a big piece of my life, my family will always be my top priority. I try to spend as much time as possible with my beautiful wife Samantha. We have two dogs and one cat that we dedicate ourselves to. Other than that I love Fashion and clothes, What I’m trying to say is that I’m a shopaholic!
