Thomas Newson

Thomas Newson

How did you come up with the project “Thomas Newson”?

I was at high school that time doing my exams, and was studying physics and you have this term called Newton. That sounded cheap so I replaced the T for a S. Thats how Thomas Newson was born.

You already performed in Germany, for example at Bootshaus in Cologne. How did you experience the German crowd and fans?

I played there on a Revealed Night back in 2015, great experience :-) Hope to play there again one day!

You grew up in a musical familiy. Your father for example is the well-known dj and producer Marco V. Did you learn any instrument - and if yes – how did that effect your development as an artist?

If you can play an instrument it does have effect. I didn’t and still don’t play any instrument so I can’t play notes but after 8 to 10 years of producing you know more what sounds in key, for example I can draw chords and getting al my percussion in the same key scale and so on.

In 2018 you released plenty of tracks. For example „Ragga“, „No More“ or your latest release „The Worker“. What are your musical plans for 2019?

My main goal for 2019 is continue with tracks like The Worker and putting out as many tracks as I can. I’m so productive right now, I think I’ve already 8 to 10 tracks ready and working on. The only thing is that you’re dependent on record labels. They have to schedule everything, that can take time. Besides that we’re focussing (my team and me) on a new sound. More Techy tracks like the Worker and (Tribal) House tracks with the same energy level as Ragga! No bigroom & harder styles anymore.

Which of your tracks you´re proud of the most and why?

The Worker, Because it’s gonna be my new direction and while creation this one I felt it’s gonna be a record that stands out.

What or who inspires you creating your music?

It’s pretty funny but my own music, besides that I’ve huge respect for Calvin Harris.
The way his music sounds, his branding, everything.
In my spare time I listen to Tech-house music, that inspires me for the groove section of a track!

Who is your favorite artist(s) aside from your genre and why?

My dad of course, He always did and still does something different. Always thinking outside the box. Thats real talent!
Listen to his (old) albums and you’ll hear music no other DJ has done before. And what I said before, Calvin Harris has that same vibe.
Always standing out, I’ve respect for that.

Aside from being a producer and DJ what are your interests or hobbies?

Having a good workout at the Gym to clear my mind is something I really like to do often, Having good & deep conversations with friends.
Going and having drinks, living the good life haha.
